Introduction to Java :- 

• Java is a high level programming language, developed by James gosling at Sun Microsystems in 1991.

• James gosling, Patric Naughtan and Mike Sheridan initiated this project for a client's settop box.

• This small team called as GreanTeam.

• Initially they developed a language for digital devices ,settop boxes, televisions etc. , called GreenTalk and file Extension was .gt .

• Later it was renamed as Oak.

• It took near about 18 months to develop first version of Oak.

• In 1995 Oak is renamed as Java.

• Primary motivation behind java is Platform Independency.  

• Later Oracle owned java in January 27, 2010

        Java applications are mainly 4 types

•  Desktop Application

• Web Application

• Mobile Application

• Enterprise Application
